The Resources in Heaven and Earth are All Your for The Taking

Look up when you are overwhelmed by your surroundings.  Look up to your father when the happenings of your surroundings are not responding to your needs and situations. Look up to our father because that is what our big brother Jesus always do when the earthly circumstances can't and didn't supply what He needed or what He wanted to do. The father's promise is to supply your needs according to His own riches in glory through our big brother Jesus; who did the same while He was on earth. It is impossible for God to lie when it is confirmed once and not any likely when it is established by two; Himself and His son. The resources in heaven and earth are all yours for the taking; once you are a son/daughter.

The Beautiful Ones are not Yet Born

History is a reminder of feats and exploits of the past. Date and time might sometimes have significant value but what is often crucial is the feat(s) achieved and when such feat is repeated or surpassed another history is written.   The writer of the book of Hebrew simply called those historical feats recorded in the previous chapters (11) as cloud of witnesses (12:1). Those clouds of witnesses are there to remind and urge us on that we can repeat similar feats and even surpass them. The writer summed it up in the last verse that we can do better and those who have gone ahead of us are waiting and urging us to surpass those feats. They will be ridiculed if we cannot surpass them. They would be incomplete if we shrink in comparison to their achievements.  History does not limit us in any form and does not want us to shrink at all from such exploit. All history is about is for us to leverage on those feats and stand on the shoulders of those heroes to see further. History be...

Living by Faith or Living According to The Dictates of Our Time

I am from the school of logic. I like to have it all figured out and sometimes I feel I have got a grasp of everything and if not all, almost all. Each time this happens something disrupt the balance of the equation.  I hate leaving things to chances, it is not my method but these days God is increasingly teaching me that life is complex and I can only do my bit and wait for other things to fall in place. He alone makes things to fall in place. He gives me the will and strength to do my bit and He makes other things to fall in place. I only wish I could consistently leave everything to Him but my nature often kicks. I think I know understand what Paul meant by those things he wished to do he didn't do them and the thing he never wished to do he kept doing. Our education and background often programme us to do things in certain ways. We must be seen working and when we are not we don feel good. We feel lazy and unproductive.  Hey who wired us that way! Family values. 8-5 jobs. ...

Jesus The Spreader of Open Happiness

Jesus is the real spreader of open happiness because the anointing of God compelled Him to go about sharing it. He went about doing good (feeding the needy and hopeless, eating and dinning with the low and classless in the society, pulling people out of despair and judgement of prejudiced society etc.) and was healing those oppressed by evil spirit. He still does the same today even at a monumental scale. This is because where He could not physically reach due restrictions of His then human nature He can now reach by the move of the Holy Spirit which He gives to all willing to partner with Him. He is looking for people who will grow from workers to partners because many are in need of this open happiness. He needs you and He still gives the open happiness if you are in need of it. Just call unto Him. Text: Acts 10:38

The Irony of Life: The Mix of Chances, Choices and Consequences V (Conclusion)

Your choices in the past have put you in deep troubles but right in those troubles someone is stretching a helping hand and willing to rescue you. He is Jesus. He knows you have messed up big time. He knows you cannot figure how to get out of the mess. He knows people have written you off. Friends and family have forsaken you but He is right beside you to pull you out. People have even taken advantage of your situation.  Come to Him. Talk to Him. Tell Jesus how hopeless your situation is. Tell Him how you feel. Don't hold back. Tell Him the way it looks even if you are accusing Him, He understands.  He will bring you out of the miry clay and put your foot upon the solid rock and establish your going. He will fix your value system. That value system that has nothing worthy of note. That value system that has let you down over a thousand times. That value system that keeps you demoralised after each stupid act and decision. He will break you down and fix you up. He is you...

The Third Option

Highly opinionated people have fragile ego. They can hardly stand their opinion or theory being challenged. In which ever way it is garnished, such fragile ego is a subset of pride. Every human has this attribute though in varying degree. The antidote to it is giving thought and consideration to other people's options. The higher degree of growing out of such is forging a third alternative.

The Over-celebrated Urbane Life

The spirit of Lagos like most metropolis: Insensitivity Inconsiderate Impatience Too much head knowledge Too much bustles and hustles Money and material drive Too much boasting They rob us of God's virtues; love, peace, gentleness,  creativity, empathy etc. They rob us of relationships with people and the society becomes a zoo where only the fittest animal survive. The frenzy of urban life is often over-celebrated and as youthful days are replaced by old age, life spent in urban areas seem a waste. Time tick away so fast and we soon realise we have few good friends, some don't even have next of kin, marriage and family life is just alien to the social construct of urban life and those who have any of those are having hard time keeping a family or a marriage. There is no rush in sururban life. There is no glamour, there is nothing to show off about, but it offers peace, the consistence of life and the relationships we need in life as we age. As we age, then we discover...

Limited to Freebies

The disciples of Jesus returned from an outreach program very happy. This is because they had cast out demons, healed all manner of sicknesses and diseases. Yet it was startling that Jesus told them not to rejoice because of those mighty works. Was Jesus a killjoy? Who wouldn't rejoice for such a feat? However according to Jesus those are the freebies of the gospel and not the gospel. The gospel is that your name is written in heaven. That is the gospel of Jesus. Eternal life. Eternal life. Eternal life. All other things like healing the sick, casting out demons, exhibiting spiritual gifts and poweress, financial success are just desserts and not the main course. They are the chocolates, ice creams and biscuits for preaching and receiving eternal life. Yet we on daily basis and most times in all our lives chase after the dessert,  we forget the main menu. We offer and are offered the dessert as the main food and many are in constant demand of the dessert because the main food is ne...

The Irony of Life: The Mix of Chances, Choices and Consequences IV.

The system 3 thinking should normally be the system 1 thinking but most of us really like to rely on what we can see and prove empirically.  However all our mysteries can be solved if we learn to maximise the system 3 thinking which is the Holyspirit. The Holyspirit can use the above two (system 1 and 2 ) to help us make choices but the ultimate problem is that the two are prone to human errors. Our hearing ability is also subject to the level of submission of our will and senses to God. We human often subject the Holyspirit to our feelings. The Holy Spirit has all the attributes of man but He is not baised like human because He is always speaking the truth, the obvious truths which are often not convenient. Our choices can be better guided by the Holy Spirit and the consequences is a happy ending. There is no promise of a life deviod of troubles but there will be a happy ending. You will be beyond your time and present realities and humans will persecute you for that. As a matte...

The Irony of Life: The Mix of Chances, Choices and Consequences III

It is hard for others when you want to force your perspectives on them. Just the way it took you time to form your perspectives,  opinions and attitudes,  the same way it took those people time to form theirs. Never think you have a superior idea, way of life,  until you try to understand the other person's perspectives. The choice you want people to accept is an ideology you have either tested or not and those people also have 'tested and tried' methods. Making choices are premised on two virtues; One is Instinct or gut feeling. This often guide us from past experience; we use intution to make decision like avoiding accidents. Most people learn to rely on this and people who make big and crucial decisions will tell you that gut feelings do fail big time when critical thinking is needed. This gut feeling is what psychologist call system one (1) thinking. The second level of thinking is what pyschologist call system two (2) thinking. It requires higher level of thinkin...

The Irony of Life: The Mix of Chances, Choices and Consequences II

Life is about chances, choices and consequences.  Your position today is based on the choices you made of your chances yesterday. If you desire more of today in tomorrow or you desire a better tomorrow you need to start making tough choices now. Sandwiched between the chances that you have and the choices you make are your value system. Whether you chose to marry or remain single or you quit your marriage or stay in it, is based on your value system. Whether you choose to look for a job or you want to be an entrepreneur, whether you stay in that job or move to another or you quit for a better life or to follow your passion is all down to your value system. It depends on whether you are a risk taker or you are just comfortable with predictable life. Your fear or gut becomes your value system with time so don't make excuses for your weaknesses. You need to make tough choices because the choices will determine you in the coming days. Most people go for the religious beliefs that r...

The Irony of Life: The Mix of Chances, Choices and Consequences

Some people are just hell bent on getting married, while some are looking for a way out of marriage. Finding love is a product of chance, staying in it is a crucial choice and there is the attending consequence of peace or heart break based on ones choice. Some have many children and wish they could just reverse the situation,  while some just want to have children by all means. The ones that have one want to have more. Some have 'all' the money and they wished they had enjoyed every moment on the way to financial success while some are breaking their back to make financials success. Some have a job they don't like despite breaking their back to get the job. Someone without a job is of the believe that he would be in paradise if given that same job. In all life situations, three things separate us from one another. 1. The chances we had or have. 2. The choices we make in the chances we have. and 3. The attending consequences of our choices.  Nobody has everything...
