I am from the school of logic. I like to have it all figured out and sometimes I feel I have got a grasp of everything and if not all, almost all. Each time this happens something disrupt the balance of the equation. I hate leaving things to chances, it is not my method but these days God is increasingly teaching me that life is complex and I can only do my bit and wait for other things to fall in place. He alone makes things to fall in place. He gives me the will and strength to do my bit and He makes other things to fall in place. I only wish I could consistently leave everything to Him but my nature often kicks. I think I know understand what Paul meant by those things he wished to do he didn't do them and the thing he never wished to do he kept doing. Our education and background often programme us to do things in certain ways. We must be seen working and when we are not we don feel good. We feel lazy and unproductive. Hey who wired us that way! Family values. 8-5 jobs. The catchphrase that it is hard work that brings money and success. Really!!!!!. When God says it is time and chance what do we feel. We feel lost. We feel when will the time be and when will the chance come. Really!!!. Self Help books and motivational speakers will tell you that you have to create your chances. Yes you do but if those chances are not favoured by God you are nothing but a failure. You think to yourself , ' I don't believe God yet I succeed'. God never program anyone to fail because they don't believe in Him. That is the myopic view of man and that is how men would behave if people don't take cognisance of them. Men want to control others and bend their will and person but God want you to choose Him out of free will and choice. He gives 'success' and 'riches' to everyone. But do you think money, fame, social acceptance, etc. are the definition of success and riches. No they are not. They are just the mirage of riches and those successes are the definition given by the people who feel materialism defines humanity. No it is the soul of a person that defines the person. It is what flows out of your soul when you have those 'successes and riches' and what flows out when you don't have them that defines you. That is what dictates if you are serving God or and mammon. The true success lies in your soul and how much of happiness and goodness you spread around. It is not a function of your wallet but a function of your heart.
Shalom
