The Over-celebrated Urbane Life

The spirit of Lagos like most metropolis:

Insensitivity
Inconsiderate
Impatience
Too much head knowledge
Too much bustles and hustles
Money and material drive
Too much boasting

They rob us of God's virtues; love, peace, gentleness,  creativity, empathy etc. They rob us of relationships with people and the society becomes a zoo where only the fittest animal survive.

The frenzy of urban life is often over-celebrated and as youthful days are replaced by old age, life spent in urban areas seem a waste. Time tick away so fast and we soon realise we have few good friends, some don't even have next of kin, marriage and family life is just alien to the social construct of urban life and those who have any of those are having hard time keeping a family or a marriage.

There is no rush in sururban life. There is no glamour, there is nothing to show off about, but it offers peace, the consistence of life and the relationships we need in life as we age. As we age, then we discover that honour, peace, the love and relationships that ganish life are better found in the serene of suburban life than in the hustles and bustles of metropolis.

For once I peeped into the future and my heart yearn for a place called home. Where people are not under constant pressure, where people don't yell at each other,  where people are not too busy to attend to people and situations in front of them. Where people grow influence from their inner circle and family. Where family life is not a luxury but a way of life. Where nature is a friend and companion. Where one can glean from the wisdom of the aged and not the catchphrases of the moment that fizzle with time. Where the whispers of nature daily reminds one of God. I am going home.

The home, the place of peace and rest where life is life and life is not about the rush, the money or the glamour but life. Living each day in the graceful embrace of what life offers, pushing the boundaries of excellence yet savouring each stride in comfort.

The Beautiful Ones are not Yet Born

History is a reminder of feats and exploits of the past. Date and time might sometimes have significant value but what is often crucial is the feat(s) achieved and when such feat is repeated or surpassed another history is written.   The writer of the book of Hebrew simply called those historical feats recorded in the previous chapters (11) as cloud of witnesses (12:1). Those clouds of witnesses are there to remind and urge us on that we can repeat similar feats and even surpass them. The writer summed it up in the last verse that we can do better and those who have gone ahead of us are waiting and urging us to surpass those feats. They will be ridiculed if we cannot surpass them. They would be incomplete if we shrink in comparison to their achievements.  History does not limit us in any form and does not want us to shrink at all from such exploit. All history is about is for us to leverage on those feats and stand on the shoulders of those heroes to see further. History be...

The road to self discovery

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?’-Marianne Williamson
