History is a reminder of feats and exploits of the past. Date and time might sometimes have significant value but what is often crucial is the feat(s) achieved and when such feat is repeated or surpassed another history is written.
The writer of the book of Hebrew simply called those historical feats recorded in the previous chapters (11) as cloud of witnesses (12:1). Those clouds of witnesses are there to remind and urge us on that we can repeat similar feats and even surpass them. The writer summed it up in the last verse that we can do better and those who have gone ahead of us are waiting and urging us to surpass those feats. They will be ridiculed if we cannot surpass them. They would be incomplete if we shrink in comparison to their achievements. History does not limit us in any form and does not want us to shrink at all from such exploit. All history is about is for us to leverage on those feats and stand on the shoulders of those heroes to see further. History beckons on us to shatter it and etch our name in the sand of time because the feats and achievements in history are standing as witnesses urging us on that they of the past saw so little but achieved much and the advantage we have over them is that we know better, we are better informed and that life and circumstances just got easier and better for us to aspire for more. Get hungry for more because history is urging you to rewrite history. History and events in history does not want you to cringe at those feats. Those who stand in awe of those feats and dates know little of what history beckon on them to do. History is not about the date or the event but about we taking cue from history to write another history. This is because our lives will be in a shadow if those history are not written and our children can be deluded if we don't write one to inspire another feat. My history can be celebrated but it is not to scare or stand in the way of anybody. Feat of the past is meant to inspire and not scare or stand in the way of anybody. It is meant to spur us to take responsibility for the now that will affect tomorrow and tomorrow will not be complete if your progenitor fail to beat your exploit.
