Limited to Freebies

The disciples of Jesus returned from an outreach program very happy. This is because they had cast out demons, healed all manner of sicknesses and diseases. Yet it was startling that Jesus told them not to rejoice because of those mighty works. Was Jesus a killjoy? Who wouldn't rejoice for such a feat? However according to Jesus those are the freebies of the gospel and not the gospel. The gospel is that your name is written in heaven. That is the gospel of Jesus. Eternal life. Eternal life. Eternal life. All other things like healing the sick, casting out demons, exhibiting spiritual gifts and poweress, financial success are just desserts and not the main course. They are the chocolates, ice creams and biscuits for preaching and receiving eternal life. Yet we on daily basis and most times in all our lives chase after the dessert,  we forget the main menu. We offer and are offered the dessert as the main food and many are in constant demand of the dessert because the main food is never served. The dessert is never satisfying but always causing a need for more. The main food is Jesus because eternal life is when people know Jesus and that is the main course and other things are the fringe benefits of the kingdom. Jesus is the bread of life and the ever refreshing water springing from now without ceasing.

If you want the main course and dessert just pray this prayer

Lord Jesus, I acknowledge you as the bread of life. I am in dry places, consuming those things which do not satisfy.  I am hungry and thirsty. Come and feed me and fill me that I may be satisfied daily with you. Thank you Jesus.

The road to self discovery

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?’-Marianne Williamson

The Beautiful Ones are not Yet Born

History is a reminder of feats and exploits of the past. Date and time might sometimes have significant value but what is often crucial is the feat(s) achieved and when such feat is repeated or surpassed another history is written.   The writer of the book of Hebrew simply called those historical feats recorded in the previous chapters (11) as cloud of witnesses (12:1). Those clouds of witnesses are there to remind and urge us on that we can repeat similar feats and even surpass them. The writer summed it up in the last verse that we can do better and those who have gone ahead of us are waiting and urging us to surpass those feats. They will be ridiculed if we cannot surpass them. They would be incomplete if we shrink in comparison to their achievements.  History does not limit us in any form and does not want us to shrink at all from such exploit. All history is about is for us to leverage on those feats and stand on the shoulders of those heroes to see further. History be...

First Follow

Jesus want us to talk about Him, He wants us to lead people to Him. What we tell people about Him must be true. Our act and conduct must show we have had encounter with Him. Talk less and let your conduct show you have had encounter with Him. Now this is the real deal, you can't act it up, you will fail. Don't try to impress anybody because you will become a laughing stock. The only thing you need to do is follow Him. Follow Him until you become like Him. It is a journey and not a hundred meter dash. So don't act up as if you have no weaknesses or failings. People will see you fail and fall but it is how you rise up and follow after every fall and failure that will draw people to Him. Don't act up too holy or too perfect, just follow Him. As you follow, you will get transformed all the way. The more you look at Him and follow, the more your natural tendencies fall off. The more people see Him in you. Acting up make you look too good to b...
