Love Notes, From He to He

No woman is immune to Love No woman can resist the power of poetry She does not need to understand all the turenchi or the ajasas, She might not understand what roses are meant for, but she understands the color of love Tell her a love story, let it be about her and you (Don’t mind my English, she comes first here) Speak poem to her, let it be about the paradise you can both create. Awaken the love in her, buried underneath the consistent heartbreak and hurt you have caused her. Awaken the giant that is bruised, battered and defeated when you could not shelter her. Let your words be the house she dwells in. Let it caress her body and soul and you will see her spirit come back to life Hey wait a minute. How can you do all this. It is a full time job. She has got to eat, so you need to be busy with work. She does not need your food or money, her food is your love. But you need to learn from the best lover boy. He needs to first cares...

The Love Your Enemies Need

Well to be candid I don't know who my enemies are.  Maybe I don't have one or I am just blind to the fact that they exist. Am I arrogant?  OK, I just wish I could apologise.  Now most times those we call enemies are those who critic us, those who make life hard and unbearable for us, those who see no good in us,  those who make us feel inadequate or inferior. We don't have our ways easily with them. They always see things differently. Now think of them.  I mean think of those in that category. They just make your heart sink when you see them. You misbehave in their presence because you are trying to impress  them.  You are trying  to rise above the picture they paint about you.  You succeed in doing this for sometimes, then that your achilles caught up with you over and over.  Your mediocrity overcomes you. You are just back in the same spot. The message you keep hearing is they are responsible for where you...

The Pressure, Then Pleasure

For the first time in my life I am really and truly grateful to God for the many troubles I have passed through, the ones I am passing through and with great expectations do I look forward to the ones ahead. I am so happy and grateful to God because in those unpalatable situations I have made tough choices which has pushed me farther in life. Most of us look at our good lives and forget the many troubles that were catalyst for the good we are facing today. The supposed good things are not the real deal, the deal breakers are the pressure cooker moments that tapped our inner resources My only prayer is for us to see the positives and God in our situations. My prayer is that our weaknesses will also receive strength to make tough choices that will propel us to our rightful place in life. The purpose of prayer is not to arm twist or cajole or beg God to do something for us. The place of prayer is to align our will with His, align the mundane with the celesti...

If you fail in the days of adversity, it is because you have a pony strength.

If you fail in the days of adversity, it is because you have a pony strength. It is because overtime you have built your life on principles that cannot stand the test of time. And sometimes it is because your maker wants to prune you. He uses the forces of nature to realign you with enduring and eternal values. You have garnered some excessive 'fat' that are not beneficial to your life. You have lived on flattering words of men that cannot stand the test of time. You have been excited by those words for a season, but those words and value system make your soul and heart weak. The test comes to sift you and that you can know your real self. Prayers won't deliver you. Prayer is meant to align you with God's will, prayer does not exempt anyone from trials and temptation. 'Deliverance' won't do either. Your deliverance is that you start feeding on content that can stand the test of time. The deliverance is that you shun what is in vogue to aligning with pr...

LOOKING INTO THE FUTURE WITH THE EYES OF FAITH

BEING TEXT OF SPEECH BY PASTOR ‘TUNDE BAKARE AT THE STATE OF THE NATION BROADCAST ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 8, 2017. THEME: LOOKING INTO THE FUTURE WITH THE EYES OF FAITH. Introduction Fellow citizens of our great country, we are gathered here again at the turn of the year, as has become customary, to take a timely look at our nation – to examine its social, economic and political landscapes, to test the solidity of its value pillars, to interrogate its spiritual foundations, and to envision its future. We do this, first of all, in keeping with the obligations of that high office, the Office of the Citizen1 , then as patriots and nation builders, and ultimately as watchmen who understand the times and know what the nations ought to do, having been commissioned by God to bring direction to Nigeria, our primary place of assignment. This address, which I have titled “Looking into the Future 2 with the Eyes of Faith”, will begin with a brief overview of the year 2016 vis-à-vis t...

YOU ARE GOD; and no less

It is so easy for the reality of God to be lost even to the most ardent believer. We can be lost when we only know what people have written or said about him. It is easy to become an atheist, when we let people validate or invalidate God. Nothing validate or invalidate God. He can exist or not exist base on your perception of your own worth. The day you come to realise you is the day you know God. God expresses himself in different fashions and forms and he cannot be restricted to someone's definition or a group nomenclature.  No theology adequately captures God. The theology that once capture God loses sight of God the moment it stereotype God to one singular definition.  God is limited and unlimited based on how we let Him express himself in us. He can't be stereotyped. No one has a monopoly of him.  No religious group does. No one is good enough to monopolise Him and no one is bad enough to be unusable.  He manifest himself  in nature,  yet he is b...

Nigeria in Recession: What is The Role of the Church

BEING TEXT OF ADDRESS BY PASTOR ‘TUNDE BAKARE ON THE OCCASION OF THE 14th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF FOURSQUARE GOSPEL CHURCH, ASOKORO, ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2016. VENUE: CHURCH AUDITORIUM, 1902, YAKUBU GOWON CRESCENT, ASOKORO, ABUJA. TIME: 4:00 p.m. THEME: THE CHURCH AND ECONOMIC RECESSION PROTOCOLS. Nearly a century ago, a woman of God broke the jinx of man-made limitation and of confinement to the proverbial "kitchen, living room and other room" by doing the unprecedented. She defied all odds – socio-cultural norms, religion and gender – to establish the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. As if that was not enough, she went ahead to build Angelus Temple, an architectural masterpiece in the heart of Los Angeles, the film industry capital of America, as the place of worship for the new church. The woman, Aimee Semple McPherson, driven by nothing other than simple obedience to God, and with no connections or earthly inheritance, raised $250,000, the modern d...
