In
those circumstances, when ones faith is pushed to the limit. In that moment
when ones power fail. Just like that moment after Peter had denied Jesus and
Peter wept bitterly because of his fickleness.
After resurrection, Jesus asked
him the question’, Peter do you love me. ‘Yes’, was Peter’s response and three
times he insisted but the persistence of Jesus questioning broke Peter. Coupled
to it was the responsibility of ministering to the church. He had earlier
denied Jesus thrice and here was Jesus asking for reassurance of Peter’s love
and loyalty and it literally dawn on Peter the third time that Jesus was the
only one who knew better. Most time we strive, work hard, keep faith, and hold
on so that our names, testimonies, faith, stories of faith can be intact. We
want our names to be written amongst the heroes of faith but we get to a point,
a break point where our pony strength cannot take us through. Some lose
balance, some hold on but most times it is not a matter of holding on or losing
balance that matter, it is who we trust in our moment of weakness. Whether our
pony strength or God. The strength of the mightiest fails in the tempest of
storm. Peter the head of the church failed. Abraham the father of faith doubted
God when it became obvious he won’t be able to have the promise child with Sarah.
We most times beat ourselves to the ground when we fail at those critical
moments; especially for those who want to display righteousness or exhibit faith
as heroism. Righteousness and faith are gifts which can only be given by God
and no man through his strength can earn it. Whether you failed or stood in the
days of adversity, the most important lesson is to know that by your strength
you cannot make it and it is only through God you can. Where does your faith lies
after the episode is what matters. Don’t beat yourself down for failing, God
only wants you to trust Him and place no trust in yourself. If you stood, thank
God for the grace because when you think you are standing, take precaution so
that you don’t fall. It means be patient and humble; know the limit of your
humanity.
