MR NICE GUY, DO YOU CHARGE FOR YOUR TALENT?

Recession has taught me a great deal. That is a blessing of hard times. I once found it very difficult charging people for my skills and talent. Are you also in that trap. You are just too nice and too good to do that. You want to be ‘Mr Nice Guy’, you want people to love you. Yeah that is noble but your bills are looking at you in the face and you are dying in silence while trying to please few people.
Now this is the deal breaker, when the next friend/customer comes, charge him or her. If he or she refuses to pay, move on and look for the next customer. While waiting for the next customer, do yourself a big favour, hone your skills. Why you don’t charge or scared to do is because you have not honed your skills. You have the talent but people don’t trust you yet.
The moment I started charging fee, I know I can’t afford to do crappy jobs. I charge people for writing CV, cover letters, company documents, blog post etc. I have been earning money on the side. I started out charging reasonable fee but now I charge unreasonable fee because I know the time and effort I put into these work
Every rich man or woman you know or adore, charge for their talent. So if you want to remain broke, continue the Mr Nice guy syndrome

Date and time might sometimes have significant value but what is often crucial is the feat(s) achieved and when such feat is repeated or surpassed another history is written.   The writer of the book of Hebrew simply called those historical feats recorded in the previous chapters (11) as cloud of witnesses (12:1). Those clouds of witnesses are there to remind and urge us on that we can repeat similar feats and even surpass them. The writer summed it up in the last verse that we can do better and those who have gone ahead of us are waiting and urging us to surpass those feats. They will be ridiculed if we cannot surpass them. They would be incomplete if we shrink in comparison to their achievements.  History does not limit us in any form and does not want us to shrink at all from such exploit. All history is about is for us to leverage on those feats and stand on the shoulders of those heroes to see further. History be...
