Faith and profession is the entry level of worship of God but character is what makes us wholesomely beautiful as human. If there is anything that makes us comparable to God, it is developing wholesome character just like Him. We are most ugly if all we have to show as resembling God is our outward appearance. There is no correlation; our outwards appearance would eventually be derailed no matter the patch ups and make ups, but only our character has the features of improving with age. This does not happen automatically, it requires deliberate effort to build our core character and value system. We are a faith professing nation (Nigeria), circumstances of life as well as many attending national issues have drawn many to the ‘train’ of emergency believe system yet our nation is in a state of comatose. Our profession runs contrary to our value system as a nation. No other reason for this than the fact that faith stale when there is no movement.
When character is not built, faith get mixed up with different heresies and that is why it is so easy for the profession of faith by some people to be very repulsive when what we profess does not match our character behaviour. We are all a work in progress but we should endeavour to put ourselves as individuals through the process of character building. God will also build you with many trials and affliction just let those trials do their work completely. Make the right and but tough choices because Nigeria need to make such choices and only men who have done so themselves can make such choices for Nigeria. Character is what can build us as individuals and as a nation. Our faith and our profession has not built us as a nation, it has only fanned our greed, laziness, impatience and all we seek daily is dropdown of manna from heaven, miraculous money or jobs etc. Lack of character make us just pay lip and pen services to national development. Our faith and our profession will only run our lives and that of the nation down the drain if we do not take conscious effort to build our character content as individuals and a nation. We would pray and profess till eternity, our nation and lives will continue to rot because only men of character get things done. Only men of character build a nation. Only transformed men transform nations. We are all responsible for where Nigeria is at this time in history; whether as active participant in the rot, or passive lookers that permit things to happen with no fight/challenge or as critics that do not lift a hand to do anything.
