A former school mate of mine made an interesting reference and observation; he exhumed an article of Professor Wole Soyinka on GMB. The article was published by Osun defender but to be candid I don’t know why he never found a more credible source to reference other than Osun defender. He is an academic (at least a MSc holder from abroad) and he did the trade a fatal injustice. The article highlighted one of many GMB atrocities in his military days- human right abuse of public officers that were incarcerated for one offense or the other-majorly corruption. In it Professor Wole Soyinka mentioned the case of Ebenezer Babatope incarceration. However to disappoint many PDP and King Nebuchadnezzar's apologist I am not here to exonerate Buhari, or to verbally abuse Professor Wole Soyinka as many of those untrained and unscrupulously unschooled minds have done whenever our own very esteemed professor critics King Nebuchadnezzar. I would be unwise to question the source of the story because I know perfectly the stand of Kongi on GMB. I am an avid follower of the sage and in his books; he has never spared the people’s General. In the first place who anointed GEJ as Nebuchadnezzar as my fellow alumni was quick to seek legitimacy for GEJ in Kongi’s criticism of GMB? Professor Wole Soyinka is my hero and idol and he rarely mix facts up and his facts were spot on concerning GMB. However Professor Wole Soyinka is an academic and in the academic world one is allowed to take a position and maintain it because one belongs to a school of thought. Anyone who knows about strategy will definitely know about the two divergent schools championed by Michael Porter and Henry Mintzberg. So Kongi was never wrong about his opinion about GMB. Kongi does not believe GMB has changed enough to be trusted with power while the same Professor leaves one in a conundrum by labelling GEJ a plague that must be avoided. Therein comes the need to make a choice amongst the two evil as the professors paint it to me thus I need to put my brain to use because the professor cannot teach me everything. I don't even know who the prof will vote for so I decided to use my brain.

One, GEJ believes that stealing and corruption are just one of the normalities of life one can comfortably live with while GMB believes that corruption and stealing must be removed and eradicated at all cost because he believes that corruption is a killer diseases while GEJ sees nothing wrong with corruption. Fundamentally GMB action can be dissected in different school of thoughts or amongst academics and the opinion will sure be divided-His brute force in getting things done as a soldier. His intentions however will unify all, they were noble. His strategy that divides us is open for divergence and debate but show me that one man who has the singular choice and responsibility to eradicate corruption who has not used brute force. Corruption never rest and we don’t expect anyone willing to eradicate it and get result to do so with civility.
Two, GMB has been labelled a religious and ethnic bigot but GEJ has just recently said he regrets not making a Yoruba man the speaker. GEJ’s attitude to killing and kidnapping in North of Nigeria shows me a man not concerned about humanity-a man who believes that the Muslim Hausas’ should continue to kill themselves as long as those of his household and clan are not touched. GEJ has not visited Chibok till now, he is afraid of appearing at war front and we still allow him wear the title of C in C while we question the loyalty of our young men at the war front. He goes on an Azonto trip immediately after a bomb blast? In what colours or languages should bigotry be interpreted before the understanding dawn on us? Now be the judge of who is more of a bigot between GEJ and GMB. One does not comprehend the precipe situation Nigeria is in and one is deeply troubled with the trend of events.
One previously had no shoes but he is now no longer in touch with the realities of common man on the street of Kano, Lagos or Enugu but one has decided not to enrich himself to stupor so as not to be disconnected from the people. If there is one man who can singlehandedly garner votes without a formal political structure because he is much connected with what affects us, it is no other person than GMB. If our electoral process was really one man one vote, a proper popularity test would have exposed the lies that the shoeless shenanigan painted even before now.
I will be naive to assume that GMB is a saint or there are no shade of truth in the allegations against him but I have a critical case at hand; one of crass incompetence and gross stupidity and I need to replace such as soon as possible and with all arsenals at my disposal because the better option ahead of me is what I will chose. Now I am an APC member. You know why I don’t care to be labeled APC? It is because they call me APC and no need educating them. So why hide it when it obvious that anyone who holds a different opinion is APC. I don’t need to convince a man not my colour that I am not black; I only let him wallow in the stupidity of his bigotry
Summary and Conclusion
One of the most pronounced sins of GMB is human right abuse- incarcerated many corrupt politicians without trial and pronounced capital punishment on those who stole public fund. It is often a divided debate when it comes to the issues of capital punishment but what is the right punishment for a man that steals money for road and thousands die on those routes because of the potholes and death traps due to one man's wanton greed and stealing. What is met for a man that steals money for hospital and turns our hospitals into morgues? What punishment is meant for such man who embezzles the pension of our past heroes who through sweat and toil lay the foundations of our nation?
GEJ has not harassed our fundamental human right but the right to live in peace has been compromised leading to crime against humanity. The Chibok Girls have not been rescued. Thousands are massacred in Jos, Kano, Yobe, Borno etc. and under GEJ’s watch help is not forthcoming. The money to rescue these girls and provide security is being embezzled. Who then commit human right abuse in the proportions of crime against humanity?
The Chinese believe that it is better to kill the man that steals public fund than to allow many die as a result of one man’s sin while the democracy we copied for America preaches the abolition of capital punishment but seeking redress to address gross misconduct and injustice but such justice system advocated is premised on sound moral soul of the society which is an ingredient near extinction in our society. How then do we save our society and restore back such soul than to enthrone one man whose soul still cringes at such level of corruption which have become a way of life that we no longer blush when it is mentioned or practised. GMB!!!
